I don't post to the board as often as I
should, but I love to visit Sid City often and see what's going on. Deep
Space Nine is my favorite of the new Treks, but as I told Sid,
I discovered Dr. Bashir "late in life". I woke up one day, having had a
dream about Odo and Dr. B, and decided young Julian was pretty neat. How
wonderful to discover Sid City and find out that Siddig himself is pretty
neat! Thanks to Sid City, I discovered the fan club and was able to go
to the Weekend on the Promenade, my first "convention" ever, though it
was better than a convention since it was not commercial, all for fun and
charity! Now I am thouroughly spoiled.
I am 41, single, and a lifelong resident
of Louisiana, now living in Baton Rouge since 1982. I have a 13 year old
golden retriever named Max who is my buddy. I've been a Star Trek
fan since the early seventies when Spock became my hero! I remember its
being on TV in the sixties, but I was too young to appreciate it. I fear
that at that point, Lost in Space was more my speed (ugh!) My 2
older brothers had sense enough to watch Trek, however. Later, I
came to love Trek not so much for the science fiction as for the
characters and their intense friendships. Maybe this is why DS9 appeals
so strongly to me since the characters are so richly developed--much more
so than even the origianl series. Love the O'Brien/Bashir friendship.
I have recently discovered Joseph Fiennes,
maybe because he reminds me of Sid! Two of my other favorite actors are
Robin Williams and Steve Martin. For each of these fellows, I admire their
ability to do well in both comic as well as serious roles. As far as music
goes, I like lots of different types of music. One of my favorites is Dan
Fogelberg (remember him?).
Well, I could probably come up with some
other stuff, but don't want to make this too long. Looking forward to continued
enjoyment of Sid City and the messageboard.
