Emyn Lise -- Bajoran Female
Chief of Security, Deep Space Nine, Bajoran Sector

Chief of Security Emyn Lise is one of the newest additions to DS9's senior staff. She is Bajoran, born and raised in the desert province of Ralinte. Because of the arid conditions and sparse resources of her homeland, the Cardassian Occupation was less brutal for Emyn than for other survivors. She, her mother, and her two brothers lived in a small village with several other Bajoran families, who by turns worked in the small ore mine located nearby and acted as servants for the families of their Cardassian overseers. Though undoubtedly a slave, Emyn lived a relatively easy life for most of her adolescence, finding time to go running and climbing through the hills and bluffs surrounding the village.

Things changed when the Resistance began to take hold in Ralinte Province; a small cell took root near the village, sparking a battle that would eventually destroy and scatter the small population. The Cardassian overseers either dead or fleeing back to the capital, the remaining Bajorans had either to join the cell or to make their way on their own. Emyn chose the latter option, finding her way to Selat, a larger city near the edge of the province. She worked in the processing plants there until the end of the Occupation, at which time she was enlisted to help in the reconstruction of Bajor. Although she had never fought in the Resistance herself, her family's involvement gave her enough recognition to earn a field commission. She headed up security efforts in Selat and later in the capital city. Though a bit antisocial, Emyn proved herself capable in her field, eventually making her way up to a rank of captain in the Bajoran militia.

At the end of the Dominion war, twenty-five years after the rebellion in Ralinte Province, Emyn was given a post on the Federation space station Deep Space Nine, as a replacement for Odo. She now serves under Colonel Kira.
