Morn – Lurian
male
Freighter captain and frequent patron at Quark’s Bar
Deep Space Nine, Bajor Sector
Ahhh, Morn. A true Renaissance male. Freighter captain, loveable rogue, ladies’ man,
former thief, excitable barfly, friend to all. Seen it all, done it all, talks
about it all.
Morn was raised with 17 brothers and sisters, and while he is not close to
them, he still remains devoted to his mother, going home for her birthday every
year. He may have been involved with a woman named Larell, one of his partners-in-crime
in the infamous Lissepian Mother’s Day Heist. No other named relationships
are known, but Morn’s left a trail of fond memories and quickening heartbeats.
Some attribute this to Lurian anatomy — they have two hearts.
Morn once confided to Dax, during a Peldor Joi festival, that he had secret
woes and heartaches. He took her advice to heart, and resolutely focused on
the future, rather than lamenting the mistakes of his past.
During the Dominion occupation of the station, Morn served as courier for Kira’s
new resistance cell, nobly risking his life to carry vital information back
to the Federation. He was recruited by Jake Sisko, who likely knew of Morn’s
use of Dr. Bashir’s secret agent program and his yearning to live out
such dangerous fantasies in real life. Morn had obviously overcome the earlier
fears that resulted in his running naked through the Promenade at word of the
imminent Dominion invasion.
Shortly after the Federation retook the station, no doubt still caught up in
the flush of wartime heroism, Morn scuttled his first freighter to smoke out
his former partners in the Heist, who hoped to track down the gold-pressed
latinum he concealed in his second stomach. With his cohorts safely in prison
for the attempted murder of Quark, and the statute of limitations on the Heist
expired, Morn has been able to live comfortably on the proceeds of the theft.
Still, being the restless soul he is, he’s purchased another, finer,
ship, and is once again plying the spaceways in the Bajoran sector.
When he’s not out adventuring or romancing his most recent lady friend,
Morn is to be found on his favorite stool at Quark’s Bar, the center
of attention, regaling his many friends with tales of adventure, life, the
universe, and everything. Quark knows his business almost doubles when Morn’s
there.
And yet, for all Morn’s eloquence, he never seems to get a word in edgewise
with Quark....
